# Profile and targets

> Body metrics, weight goal and cooking habits — the three things that decide the numbers you see.

Your profile does two jobs: it sets your daily **targets**, and it tells Kallo
**how you cook**. The two are independent, and only one of them ever reaches the
AI model.

## Initial setup

Setup is three screens and takes about two minutes. You can skip it and come
back — the sidebar will keep the thread until you finish.

### Screen 1 — Origin and language

The country you grew up in and the country you live in now. This shapes how
Kallo reads dish names and default portions — the same dish name means a
noticeably different serving size from one region to the next. You also pick
your display language here.

### Screen 2 — Body metrics and goal

Weight, height, age, biological sex and activity level. From these Kallo derives
your **TDEE** — total daily energy expenditure — then applies your goal on top:

- **Cutting** — a target below TDEE.
- **Bulking** — a target above TDEE.
- **Maintaining** — a target at TDEE.

The **aggression** slider decides how far. Push it further and change comes
faster — and gets harder to sustain. Kallo will say plainly when the pace you
picked is a sharp one.

### Screen 3 — Cooking habits

This is the part most apps skip, and the part that moves estimates most:

- Whether you cook with a lot of oil or a little.
- Your default rice portion.
- Your default protein portion.
- Whether you finish the broth.

The same bowl of noodle soup differs a lot between someone who drinks the broth
and someone who leaves it.

## An important boundary

> **Your goal never reaches the AI model**
>
> When a meal is analysed, the model receives only your meal description, your
> countries and your cooking habits. It does **not** know that you are cutting,
> what your calorie target is, or what you weigh.
>
> Goal adjustment happens on our servers **after** the model returns. That keeps
> your goal from biasing the estimate — a model that knows you are dieting is very
> likely to hand back a comfortable number rather than a true one.

The full detail is in the [privacy policy](https://kallo.fit/en/docs/legal/privacy).

## What goal adjustment does

Every estimate is a range, not a point. When that range is collapsed to the
single number stored in your log, your goal decides which end it collapses
toward:

- **Cutting** — the cautious end: the upper bound for calories, carbs and fat,
  the lower bound for protein.
- **Bulking** — the opposite.

This is deliberate. If you are cutting, underestimating a meal hurts you more
than overestimating it.

## Changing things later

Everything above is editable in **Settings** at any time. Changing your weight
or goal recalculates targets immediately, and you see the new target before you
save.

Meals you have already logged are **not** recalculated — they keep the figures
they had when you confirmed them, so your history never rewrites itself behind
you.
