Sharing and splits

Last updated September 23, 2026

Sharing a meal#

Once saved, every meal has a share action. You pick the audience: friends, a group, or a private chat.

Recipients see the description you wrote, the dishes, and the nutrition figures.

Automatic sharing#

Settings has an option to share new meals to Circle automatically. It is off until you turn it on — a new account keeps every meal private.

What turning it on means

While it is on, every new meal is shared with your friends as you save it, without asking again. Each meal still has its own share action, so you can make any one of them private afterwards.

A friend sees only meals shared after you connected. If you had automatic sharing on before adding someone, your earlier meals do not appear in their feed.

Splits#

This is the part for eating together.

If two people share one bowl and both log the whole bowl, the numbers are wrong twice over. Portion invites fix that.

When sharing, you choose one of two modes:

Copy — the recipient logs the whole meal. Use it when you both had the same thing.

Split — the recipient logs a fraction of the meal, at the ratio you set. Use it when you genuinely shared one portion.

The recipient sees the invite and decides whether to accept. Nobody gets a meal added to their diary without agreeing to it.

Reactions and replies#

Shared meals can take reactions and short replies. This is the light-touch part of the feature — enough to keep a habit going without turning eating into a competition.

Removing something you shared#

You can stop sharing a meal. It then disappears from other people's threads.

But if someone has already logged it into their own diary, that entry is theirs and it stays — much as you cannot take back food you have already handed to someone.
